Sparks is able to turn his characters into people we learn to love. The book starts with Kyle, a missing four year old that has limited language skills and understanding. He grants us insight into the very hard trials and tribulations of a mother faced with what appears to be an impossible task, the love and strength of heart of a little boy and Taylor who steps in and is eventually saved from himself.I rate this a 5 because of the way the story progresses and how sparks is able to capture his readers by the first 75 pages of the novel. After a car wreck where his mother, Denise Holten is knocked unconscious, has has wandered off to somewhere in the nearby swamp. With the toughness of finding the son who does not answer when called, the story gets off to an amazing start. Once I got around there, I couldn't put the book down. Its a great book if you are looking for an nice romance to read.
It isn't just a nother duplicate of the same story line with different names. The way Sparks introduces the main charecters is refreshing. As many of Sparks books again here is a single mother and a lonely guy. I was able to feel the emotions from the pages and it gripped me and held me there in the moment. There is heartache and spell binding love. Although it follows many of the same basic story line of his other books I was pleased that the author had not fallen into the same old routine. Another excellent read by Nicholas Sparks.
This book is very interesting in the beginning, a little boring in the middle with some spouts of excitement, and a big bang at the end. Although it has its drawn-out times, the positives outweigh the negatives. At times you will want to stop reading, but I encourage you to continue because you will be glad you did. Four stars.
I just want to say that it's such a great story about overcoming obstacles and falling in love.Great read.
Though Denise pulls away after seeing these behaviors, she very quickly takes Taylor back, ultimately marrying and starting a family with him, based on his promise to work on these issues. A disturbing book about a woman, Denise, who falls in love with a man, Taylor, who has serious psychological issues from a dramatic childhood event. These issues reveal themselves in risky behavior, withdrawal and even violence. Though it appears Taylor is on the road to recovery, it feels like Denise is rushing into a relationship that could blow up at any moment. The message sent is very unhealthy.
